Reupholstered Antique Wicker Rocker

This wicker rocker is over 100 years old.  It has a metal spring seat which was completely uncovered.  I applied burlap and secured the springs then put padding and felt over the burlap.   I made a cover just like you would for a regular chair cushion but the bottom is burlap which was placed … Continue reading

Romantic Bedroom

This beautiful sleigh bed needed a rich golden fabric to set off the wood and make the bed inviting to jump right into. The windows were bare and needed something to give the room privacy but keep the light flooding in.  The sheers give a soft light but the panels give the privacy at night … Continue reading

Sewing Again

Well, here I am.  Writing to myself because I do not know if anyone will ever read this.  I am working on my latest job.  I am very happy with the quality of the fabric and the colors and of course this means I am obsessing over it.   The room is a master bedroom. … Continue reading

Take a dining room with a tray ceiling and large chandelier and make it look bigger, dramatic and dressed to entertain.  Try this.  A beautiful swag valance with bell jabots and opaque sheers with a large stripe pattern.  Lower the lights, light the candles and serve a wonderful meal under this soft shimmering setting.  The … Continue reading

The … Continue reading

Window Seats

Window Seats

Here are two different looks for window seats.  Both seats used a 5-6 inch deep foam cushion.  The cushions in both pictures have a zipper in the back for ease of dry cleaning in case of a spill or to just clean after use.  I also recommend getting window seat cushions scotch guarded before using … Continue reading

Comfort in a Window Seat

Comfort in a Window Seat

This cape cod had a wonderful dormer in the master bedroom which definitely needed this window seat.  The owner built a cedar lined storage box into it which I topped with an upholstered seat and back cushions that coordinated with the fully lined swag and jabots over the window.  It is a great retreat for … Continue reading

Upholstered Antique Rocker

Upholstered Antique Rocker

A client had this antique rocker which he wanted restored.  I enjoy saving family heirlooms so decided to help him with this project. When I removed the old fabric I replaced the old horsehair padding and also padded the back for more comfort.  To hold the fabric in place decorative upholstery tacks were used on … Continue reading

Working With A Theme

Working With A Theme

The owner of this home has a country French theme in her kitchen. I designed and made a simple awning valance to enhance the theme and frame their beautiful wooded view.  The fabric used is a small blue and white stripe which is accented with rope cording on the scalloped front edge.
